yellow bird in the spotlight

a little bird whispered in my ear...

At yellow bird paper greetings a chi-chi concoction of vintage imagery, girlish glamour and witty sayings culminate in a stationery collection high on style and serious sass.

Inspired by her travels, children and childhood, stationery designer Charmaine Carlson uses both the past and present as her muse. Reaching into the past, she unearths nostalgic images, colours, fonts and styles which she then magically reinterprets in refreshingly modern ways.

Charmaine CarlsonWith an inclination toward the creative arts, Charmaine earned a degree in fashion design and marketing and spent 10 years working in the business as a fashion buyer before the corporate culture began to have her yearning for freer pastures. An infatuation with paper and creating sassy greeting cards from old fabric scraps and baubles led to the creation of Yellow Bird in 2002. Originally supplying a handful of North American retailers with handmade, hand-embellished greeting cards that were celebrated for their combination of sass and sophistication, the demand for these chi-chi concoctions was exceptional. Not one to stand on her laurels, Charmaine channeled her creative talents by introducing an all new printed line which ultimately led to the collection as it stands today:

Our collection now numbers over 300 items, helping to ensure that yellow bird paper greetings remains one of the most celebrated greeting card companies in North America. The company hasn't flown too far from its' beginnings, however. All our products continue to be made from the highest quality papers and materials right here in North America. Best of all, yellow bird is still headed by its founder Charmaine Carlson, and remains a "little big" company, continuing to retain its small-company persona while soaring to great heights in the greeting card industry.
